What is Search Engine Optimisation and why would you need it?

Search engine optimisation is actually not a scarey subject.  It's a remarkably obvious solution to a problem thats getting worse by the hour. 

Consider these 2 scenarios:

You're in the market to buy a product

You want to find a good deal, or more information about a product from various suppliers.  The internet is by far the fastest and easiest way to find everything you could possibly need to know and also provides an easy way to buy your product online.

You find a website you like that has the product you want to buy, so you buy it right away.  It's fast, and it's simple.  The product is delivered within a couple of days.  It's a great product, and your glad you found that website.  You'll probably tell your friends and colleagues about it.  Thats great!

You're in the market to sell a product

You have a website.  You've put information about your product in your online catalogue, and you've setup some kind of payment system.  You sit back and wait for the orders to come rolling in.

And you wait

And you wait some more

but, No-one can find your website!

Why Top Ranked Web Pages Are Important
